Award: Composting and Recycling at Landfills

Requirements: Study landfill-based composting and recycling, focusing on what is needed to create, in the most environmentally friendly manner, an on-site composting/recycling facility at a landfill? The study shall consider environmental and climate-related impacts, and how they are measured. Points to consider: (1) air quality and pollution including particulate matter, greenhouse and toxic gases? (2) water usage and pollution (underground and on ground)? (3) environmental justice impact on local residents? (4) wildlife and habitat destruction? (5) other environmental factors?
