Details: Today’s youth will face terrible consequences if we continue ignoring the effects of climate change. The future needs young activists who will become the next generation of environmental leaders. Year-after-year, the world’s climate is heating up and people need to take action to reverse this. All nominations should discuss what the candidate did, including describing the project, its results, and its recommendations. As a Condition of Award, the recipient will be required to write a newsletter article for some local environmental group, and make a presentation online and/or in person at a local venue before that group. Note: Nomination packets will not be returned and become the exclusive property of JFETF.

Status: The Trustees of the JF Environmental Trust Foundation proudly announce that the 2024 Award goes to Ms. Victoria Gallaway for her actions to protect the world in which we live. While an undergraduate at UMW, Ms. Gallaway stepped up as an environmental advocate, joining with the Sierra Club (SC) Rappahannock Group (RGSC) and JFETF to address local issues that affect our environment. She became the Conservation Chair, representing RGSC at Chapter (statewide) SC Executive Committee (ExCom) meetings. She coordinated the RGSC data center position and outreach events. She reported to the Chapter other RGSC activities, while listening to and participating in statewide and national issues. Additionally, she attended RGSC ExCom meetings, and wrote for, edited, and published their newsletter.
